What this calculator does

Enter your current credit card balance, the annual interest rate (APR), and your planned monthly payment. The calculator shows you exactly how many months it will take to pay off the balance and how much interest you will pay in total.

Add an optional extra monthly payment to see how much time and money you save by paying just a little more each month. Even an extra $25–$50 per month can shave years off your payoff timeline.

How to use it

  1. Enter your current balance — the amount you owe today.
  2. Enter your annual interest rate (APR) — find this on your statement or card issuer's website.
  3. Enter your monthly payment — the amount you plan to pay each month (must be more than the minimum to make progress).
  4. Optionally, enter an extra monthly payment to see the impact of paying more.
  5. Click Calculate to see your results.

Tip: If you have multiple credit cards or debts, use the Debt Snowball vs. Avalanche Calculator to build a full payoff plan across all of them.
