What this calculator does
"I want to make an extra $1,500 a month" is a common goal — but without a concrete plan, it stays abstract. This calculator turns that number into a specific weekly work target: how many hours, projects, or units you need to produce to hit your goal.
It works for three common side income models:
- Hourly rate — consulting, coaching, freelance services billed by the hour
- Per project / per client — fixed-price projects, retainer clients, or monthly service packages
- Per unit sold — digital products, e-books, courses, templates, or any product with a set price
How to use it
- Enter your monthly income goal — the net amount you want to bring in after expenses.
- Choose your income type from the dropdown.
- Enter your rate — hourly rate, price per project, or price per unit.
- Optionally, enter your estimated monthly business expenses (software subscriptions, advertising, etc.) to see the gross revenue you actually need to earn.
- Click Calculate My Goal to see your weekly target and a scenario table at different rate levels.
Tip: If the hours-per-week number feels too high, try increasing your rate rather than your hours. Doubling your rate cuts your required hours in half.
